This post is the latest installment of our Behind the Scenes series which gives you a peek into the stories behind the homes that we build. When the Marches came to us last year to design and build a custom home in Poulsbo, WA you might say we weren’t exactly their first choice. That’s because the Marches had originally planned to build a prefab home until they realized that a prefab home would be more work than they expected. “I needed more help than that. I needed a builder who could take care of the deck and the garage and the septic and the driveway. I didn’t want to be looking for that myself,” said Mrs. March. Right from the start the design process was a collaborative effort between the Marches and our design team. “She had a vision in her head of what she wanted and had a napkin,” Mr. March explained about his wife’s ideas for the home design. “Those guys [Estes Builders] couldn’t have been better at putting that on paper. They seemed as excited to do it as we were.” The Marches had a few specific requirements for their new home:
-
- A contemporary look and feel
-
- A home office
-
- An extra large shower in the master bath
-
- A mother-in-law suite with a separate entrance
- Large outdoor area with view of hood canal and Olympic mountains
