One of the things that we enjoy most at Estes Builders is that every person, every story, and every home is completely unique. Some of our customers dream of retiring in a sprawling home far away from the noise and congestion of the city. Still others dream of giving up a sprawling home for the simplicity of less square footage and moving closer to the city where a great meal and a night out are just minutes away. The latter was definitely what our homeowners envisioned when they came to us to design and build a custom home in Cape George, a private residential neighborhood just a few miles outside of Port Townsend. Located on Discovery Bay, Cape George had the perfect location and access to amenities that our homeowners were looking for. But designing and building the home had some challenges. The 1,400 square foot home was a tight fit on the lot so we worked on a design that maximized every inch of the interior of the home. Building up wasn’t an option due to the height restriction of the neighborhood. Our mission was to design a two bedroom, two bath home with an office that felt open and spacious within the strict guidelines. In addition to the design restrictions, we wanted to build a home that included all of the features our homeowners wanted. Their wish list included an open concept living area, large garage, covered rear patio and a big kitchen that would be a perfect gathering space. The result? A charming, classic modern design that incorporates style and substance. Custom built-ins in the great room and open shelving in the kitchen make storage a snap. A large island in the kitchen doubles the workspace and Caesarstone® counters keep maintenance to a minimum. We also scaled the design so that the shallow room pitches looked appropriate.
