More About Us

A Home Fit for a Feline

The beauty of a custom home is being able to design it how you want it—the exact features, products, and details that make it truly yours and your family’s. And for this recently completed home in Sequim, the family, and the features, included the homeowners’ beloved clowder of cats. We incorporated several elements that make the house a kitty oasis without taking away from the home’s overall aesthetic or modern farmhouse charm. This included dedicating a portion of the wraparound porch to a screened-in “catio,” which connects to the home’s main living space via double doors, and a built-in 14-foot-high cat loft for the felines to climb, play, and soak up the sun.

Thoughtful Spaces for Work and Play

Ample outdoor space and sun were a must-have for the homeowners as well as their pets. Peaceful woods surround the expansive porch, which includes a two-sided fireplace, a four-panel slider that blurs the lines between indoors and out, and skylights to ensure plenty of daylighting while still protecting against the elements. A secondary, secluded porch off the primary suite includes a hot tub pad for cozy wildlife viewing. Wood porch ceilings and the rustic two-story stone fireplace surround add natural warmth to the home’s modern dark-blue vertical siding, black window frames, and bright red contemporary door.

Inside, a pop-up roof allows for clerestory windows on opposing sides to ensure light floods the main living space throughout the day. This also helped eliminate some front-facing windows that may have brought in noise from a nearby road.

The house includes a primary suite, a guest suite with full bath, and an office suite with half-bath. A strong networking system was installed to ensure access speeds for remote work. The adjoining large laundry room provides space for sewing and crafts, and it connects to the mud room and out to the kitchen for easy access.

With a modern farmhouse feel, plenty of trees, and creative layout, this custom home is close to everything yet feels away from it all—a perfect combination for homeowners transitioning from city life to country way of life.
