OUR HISTORY
As a third-generation builder, company founder Kevin Estes never had any doubt about his path in life. So when he moved to Sequim, Washington, to be near his parents, the first order of business was to build a spec house and put it up for sale. The next year he built and sold two homes.
Co-founder Jo Anne Estes made it possible to get Estes Builders off the ground, working a full-time job during those early years to ensure every dollar could be reinvested into the business. After joining the company officially a few years later, Jo Anne’s integral role over 30 years included leading the accounting team, managing human resources and payroll, and coordinating with clients and their lenders.

Our journey started in 1989 as a one-man operation. Today we have a team of 16, a stable of loyal subcontractors and a track record of more than 550 completed homes.
After thirty-five years of building in the area, founder Kevin Estes has learned a thing or two. And if you know him, you know he’s passionate about continual improvement, doing the right thing, and having a small team of the right people in the right roles. He also cares a lot. These aren’t just homes we build, these are people’s dreams and they’re putting their life’s savings into it. Thus, the core values you see on our walls and here on this page, aren’t just words. We are a small team of hard-working and caring people. We live here and will be your neighbors. We take pride in our work and do the right thing. Besides helping people make their dreams a reality, our small team has earned some of the top awards available to home builders. Styled after the nationally recognized Malcolm Baldrige criteria for performance excellence, the National Housing Quality Gold Award is co-sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders and Professional Builder magazine.
Applicants are evaluated on numerous aspects of their home building operations, including construction quality, customer service and satisfaction, operational efficiency, and personnel and trade contractor relationships.
