Water Views, Elegant Details Define Sequim Custom Home

4,000-square-foot home forgoes traditional Northwest styling for a formal, European feel

April 9, 2020

It was the perfect formula for a dream home: killer views, a homeowner with impeccable taste, and a builder dedicated to every last detail.

The 4,000-square-foot home, recently completed on Bell Hill overlooking Sequim, is one of the most detailed projects Estes Builders has completed. A departure from the typical Pacific Northwest Contemporary styles that dot the region, this elegant home instead captures a more formal, European feel suited to the homeowner’s lifetime of living abroad.

To make best use of the sloped lot, the Estes design team incorporated the primary living areas on the main level, including the master suite, office, kitchen, and living room, with floor-to-ceiling windows at the rear providing expansive views to the water beyond. The layout also ensured accessibility for the homeowner, a retired empty-nester. The walk-out basement holds an additional two guest suites and living area for frequent visits from friends and family.

Just as important to the homeowner were custom details to reflect European elegance, from a formal masonry fireplace to the handmade black metal staircase balusters and intricate custom window trim cut and hand-stained on site.

Twenty-foot ceilings, an open layout connecting the living room and the large kitchen, and dramatic sightlines from the entryway through to the large wraparound deck accommodate the homeowner’s love of entertaining. The 25-foot-long kitchen includes a dramatic center island, two dishwashers, and a walk-in pantry with matching built-in cabinetry. Along with a high-end refrigerator/freezer with wine cooling system, the home includes wine and beverage coolers in wet bars on both levels.

The elegance continues in the master suite, featuring one of two wall-hanging fireplaces and access to the deck, along with his-and-hers toilets and walk-in closets, a large walk-in shower, soaking tub, and radiant-heat floors in the bathroom.

By leaving no detail to chance, Estes Builders and the homeowner worked together to ensure a truly custom experience, from the capturing of jaw-dropping views down to the sophisticated feel of the fixtures. Everything a dream home should truly be.
