Have you ever wanted to take a peek inside the homes of some of our customers to get design ideas that you can incorporate into your own home? Digging through the drawers (so to speak) of other people’s homes can bring lots of “a-ha” and “oh-la-la” moments of inspiration as you plan your own custom home design. After all, even Picasso once said, “Good artists copy, great artists steal.”
Well, we’ve got just the thing. We’re giving you a peek inside two customer homes that our team has been building this spring and sharing some of the best design ideas with you. Think of it as your dream home swipe file. Simply browse ideas from these homes that we’re currently building and swipe the ideas you’d like to use in your own home.
For today’s swipe file we’ve included one home in Sequim and another in Port Townsend. These two homes could not be more different: one feels like a modernized version of a classic French farmhouse, the other is reminiscent of an elegant rustic cabin.
So take a peek inside and find some fresh inspiration for your own home design. Don’t forget to save the photos you like to your Houzz Ideabook or Pinterest board to make it easy to share during your Project Analysis.
Box Beam Ceilings
Want to add some wow factor to your custom home design? These gorgeous box beam ceilings are sure to impress. Features like this are what makes a custom home feel like something special and not just another ordinary house.
Open Shower
Cleaning shower enclosures is icky. We like this customer’s approach instead: a large open shower with no enclosures to clean, ever. Customize your own even further with a rain shower head, seat, built in for soap and shampoo, and transom window or skylight.
Paneled Appliances
And speaking of cleaning, if you ever tire of keeping your stainless steel streak free then you will appreciate this solution: a paneled refrigerator and (not pictured) dishwasher. What we love about this is that you can keep the classic look and feel of a farmhouse kitchen without giving up the benefits of modern appliances like a Sub Zero refrigerator.
An Island Alternative
Sometimes too many cooks in the kitchen can be a good thing. Kitchen islands may be all the rage in custom home design but peninsulas actually give cooks more room to roam (and to share the prep work). Add a breakfast bar like this one for quick, casual breakfasts on the go or easy entertaining.
Convenient Entertaining
Our favorite design feature is this one. Not only does this home include a back patio with outdoor gas fireplace, but you can easily grab a chilled bottle of white from the wine fridge and pass it right through to your guests in one swoop. Cheers!
