How much time will I need to give? With the guidance of a professional builder, most of your time and decision making is needed early on in the customer-builder relationship, in the planning stages and usually well before construction begins. This is typically the first 45 to 60 days of designing your home. You will need to participate in roughly 8 design meetings and 2 interior design meetings. All of these meetings will take place during normal business hours. Between these meetings, there will be additional time that you will need to spend making choices or contemplating your options and preferences.
What happens once construction begins?
Once all of the planning is complete and construction begins, your time commitment will be greatly reduced. Our standard process is to give you a construction update every week or so, and have you sit in on 2-3 on-site meetings to verify that things are going according to plan, as well as to answer any questions that you may have. When you decide to have a custom home built, we encourage you to be sure that you have the time available to get the very most out of the experience. It’s simply not realistic to hire a contractor to design and build your home, then expect perfection upon returning from, say, a 60-day vacation to Europe. We are here to make the home of your dreams exist in reality. But to do that, we need your time and attention to translate your needs and desires from your head to our drawing boards.
